Who is Prince Harry’s ghostwriter?
In case you’ve been hanging out on a desert island for the past year, Prince Harry put out a book about his life titled Spare.
Like most celebs and famous people, Harry did not write this book all by himself. He had help from writer JR Moehringer, who was basically his ghostwriter.
We all know who Prince Harry is, but who is his ghostwriter? Who is JR Moehringer?
Moehringer is an author and ghostwriter. He grew up on Long Island in the town of Manhasset and later wrote a coming-of-age memoir titled The Tender Bar, which chronicled his being raised by a single mother and influenced by the legion of men who frequented a local bar run by his uncle. That memoir later became a movie starring Ben Affleck as the uncle. He also helped tennis great Andre Agassi write his memoir Open and helped Nike founder Phil Knight write his memoir titled Shoe Dog. Earlier in his career, Moehringer worked as a journalist for the Rocky Mountain News and The Los Angeles Times. He has a bachelor’s degree from Yale University.
What did Harry’s ghostwriter say?
Harry’s ghostwriter, JR Moehringer, had quite a bit to say, actually, and he did so in an article published in The New Yorker in May of 2023. The article, titled “Notes from Prince Harry’s Ghostwriter,” talks a little about what it was like to work with Harry—it was a good experience for both, it seems—and how Moehringer got to be where he is, having helped write the fastest selling nonfiction book in the history of nonfiction books.
